There IS a crack on the side of the vessel so it cannot hold water as is. I have dropped in a votive candle vessel to hold water and stick in a small bouquet and this solution worked beautifully with no leaks. Alternatively, this piece can hold pens and pencils on a desk, brushes in a studio, or makeup brushes on a vanity table. Please inspect the listing photos to note the crack, as well as a small chip on the spout and other light wear consistent with the age and previous use of the piece. It will be shipped with great care!
