About Our Soap
Be advised that soap bases do contain or have been produced in the same facilities where Coconut Oil and Palm Oil have been used. Our soap bases are Hypo-Allergenic, Non-Comedogenic, Contain No Sulfates (SLS or SLES), are Paraben Free and Soy Free, Non-GMO, Cruelty Free, Vegan, and Gluten Free. Please discontinue use if you have an adverse reaction after using any HHC soap products.
Soap Quirks
- Some soaps “sweat”. Over time, they may develop small beads of moisture on the surface of the soap. While this may feel or appear like something is wrong with the soap, it is simply the glycerin in the soap drawing the moisture out of the air and the moisture collecting on the surface.
- HHC uses a low sweat base to help mitigate this sweating issue. Please be advised that depending on the humidity of your environment though, you may still experience some of this soap sweat over time.
- If you decide to use your soap instead of just displaying, you can avoid slimy build up by using a soap dish with ridges that will allow all sides of the soap to dry out between uses.
- Be advised that packaging reflects the net weight of the product at the time of packing and does not account for the shrinkage that will happen the older a soap gets.
- Along with shrinkage over time note that your soap will also become less fragrant as it sits out. The fragrance oil used in the soaps is for topical use only and you should not expect a lingering perfume effect on the skin.
- Additionally, the added fragrance in each soap may contribute to the color darkening or browning over time. If this occurs, the soap is still safe to use.
- Please note that soap batches are tested for quality. You may see some slight coloring to the suds in some of the darker colored soaps, but this is normal and safe. If you have an adverse reaction, please discontinue use.
Production Details and Order Fulfillment
- Please note that your soaps are made to order. Depending on the quantity of pre-existing orders and the size of your own order, the time between order production, fulfillment, and shipping may vary.
- Most handmade orders are currently being shipped within Four(4) BUSINESS days. (This excludes weekends and public holidays.) This estimate will increase depending on the size of the order, too.
- As a one-person operation, candles and soaps orders are fulfilled as quickly as possible within the constraints that exist as a micro-business. Please keep this in mind when ordering from Heywood Home Company and be patient as your order is filled as quickly as possible.
When relevant, you may be able to pre-order items for new batch releases that would be available for immediate shipping. This will be indicated on individual product listings.
Shipping Notes
- Your soaps will be packaged in a box suitable for gifting and shipped in a box or padded envelope, depending on the size of your order. If you order additional soaps in other silhouettes they will be shipped together in a larger box. Depending on the size of your order, your order may be split into multiple packages. You will receive individual tracking information if your order is split.
- Please note if your order contains other items from the other HHC Shops, those items may ship separately in order to protect your soap from accidental damage; this depends on the type of other item(s) ordered. You will be notified if your order is shipping separately.
- Soap orders are not eligible for return. Please contact me at [email protected] if there are any issues or damage from shipping. Please see our site-wide FAQ details on what information HHC will ask for if making a damage claim.

About Our Candles
While our unscented Staffordshire Dog Candles are intended for decorative purposes only, should you choose to burn them, please follow the care and safety instructions listed below. Heywood Home Company is not liable for any injury or damages caused by improper use of our candles.
Safety and Burning Instructions
- If you plan to display your candles in close proximity to other items, fabrics, materials or decor it is recommended to not burn/light them in that place and to use them for display purposes only; please move to a safer environment (described below) before lighting.
- Before each lighting, make sure the wick is trimmed to 1/4 inch; long or crooked wicks cause uneven burning and dripping.
- Keep candle free of any foreign materials including matches and wick trimmings.
- Only burn the candles on a level, fire resistant surface.
- Avoid burning candles near combustible materials: Keep hair and loose clothing away from burning flame and do not burn near linens, bedding, carpets, books, or flammable decorations, etc.
- If lighting both of your candles at once, be sure to spread them at 2 inches away from each other while in use.
- Avoid burning candles near any drafts, doing so will cause rapid and uneven burning and excessive dripping.
- Extinguish the candle if it smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. These signs indicate the candle is not burning properly and the flame isn’t controlled. Wait for the candle to cool before trimming the wick and re-lighting.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 3 hours at a time and be sure to trim your wick before the next burn.
- Be advised that the shape of the candle will change with your burning use; the wick to the Staffordshire Dog Candles runs straight down from the head to the front legs. The back and main body of the dog is solid wax. As you burn, the head and face will melt and the wax pool will spill over.
- Given that the wax pool will spill over the head of the dog candle with extended use, burn on a heat and flame resistant surface only to avoid surface damage to the furniture or tabletop you have chosen to display you lit candle on.
- Do not burn the candles all the way down; the foam bottom on the candle to protect your surfaces from the wax IS flammable. Remove the foam bottom if you plan to light the candle.
- Stop burning your candles once they reach 2 inches from the bottom of the candle.
- Keep lit or cooling candles out of reach of children and pets to avoid spills, damage, or injury.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep the burning candle in your sight at all times; including not leaving the candle lit when you may fall asleep or are sleeping. These candles are not intended for use as a light source/night light.
Candle Care Instructions
- Candles will fade if left in harsh or direct light for an extended period of time. Never put candles in a window or directly expose them to bright outdoor light.
- Dust off candles by rubbing them gently with a piece of nylon or a soft cloth. You can use a dry or slightly dampened cloth.
Details About Our Candles
- These candles are crafted from our own HHC-made molds using genuine antique Staffordshire Dog figures and therefore, they reflect the same characterful imperfections of the antiques themselves; the finished products retain some crazing, lumps and bumps, and minor scratches of the antiques themselves.
- Each candle is finished with a foam bottom piece to protect your surface tops and with a sticker with burning instructions should you make the choice to burn your Staffordshire Dogs
- Please note, as each piece is handmade and all electronic displays are not the same, the colors may differ a half shade or so.
- Each candle is handmade as as such, measurements and sizes can fluctuate slightly between candles.
- Each set is made of a custom Paraffin and Soy Wax Blend and comes unscented.
- These candle sets weigh approximately 1.8 pounds/24 oz/ 820 grams.
